Bristol-based artist and maker Jessica Akerman creates thought-provoking accessories inspired by topics from state surveillance and military early warning systems to women’s rights. Often crafted from offcuts, her pieces are hand-made and sustainable.

To celebrate 100 years since the first UK women could vote, Jessica Akerman has created a sew-on patch for every month of 2018. January’s is a tribute to Millicent Garett Fawcett, who led the Suffragist campaign and was instrumental in securing women’s right to vote. February’s design marks 100 years since the Representation of the People Act, whereas the patch for March honours suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst. 30% of all sales go to charities Bradford Women's Aid refuge, Birthrights and Gendered Intelligence. For the April suffrage patch, Strike! pays homage to the courage and suffering of early twentieth century feminists who were prepared to go to prison and undergo the torture of force-feeding for their beliefs.
